Video end of the rink - wall - mirror ball

Mirror Ball
This week I concentrated on the mirror ball.  This photo was taken with the UV lights on.  The next thing will be the beams coming off the mirror ball and I found my laser level and aimed it at the wall and that will be a good way to draw my lines.  After that, I'll hit the yellow outlines here and there on the silhouettes and do a little other touch up and I'll be moving on the THE BIG EXCITING SIDE WALL!!!!  Still trying for a xmas deadline, what do you think?  Will I make it?

Next weekend I'll be working for three days in a workshop in Lyme CT, plein air with Stape.  This will be a challenge, watch it snow or something.  :)
Other art this week
Yesterday I made my annual pilgrimage to Cyclorama's 20th Anniversary Boston International Fine Arts Show, pretty much an annual affair for me and my friend Ed Lemay--then we had dinner at MFA and saw the current exhibit http://www.mfa.org/news/william-merritt-chase and this morning I went to the church where I used to paint portraits twice a month.  I'll be rejoining the group in November.

I also sat for my portrait this week with the wonderful Mark Hayden C.M.  It looks fantastic already!  Mark painted a portrait of my husband, George, that I appreciate every day.  I thought it would be good to have the set to pass down to Mr. Marc. In the meantime, it will be good company for George :)

Mad Monday

The Mary's Mondays (where I teach skating in the evening) was cancelled in favor of a private party so I got to go to Mark's Mondays (Mark Hayden's evening portrait group).  He posed, so this is the second attempt to paint him.  He's the one who says I'm afraid of the dark, and I think I did better with the darks here.
I wish I could find my first version of this portrait for comparison's sake.  It was a lot different and there were aspects of that one that I liked better.
I also worked again (pretty much all day long) on the Red Lily painting where I'm trying to catch the glow of the sunlight on these flowers in my garden.  This is probably the forth day on this painting.

I'm trying to keep it lose but the main flower is such a challenge because of all the colors, thankfully, the background is easier to interpret in a lose way.  I'm finding that the supporting flowers are really beautiful as well and I'm managing to keep them in the background although they too are gorgeous in their own right.

100 things a day

That's the way it feels these days, way too much going on.  The days are flying by, as usual, but somehow, maybe its the wonderful weather, a lot is getting done--I just don't get around to posting it here.  Sorry.

I've been painting portrait work and getting help with Mark Hayden.  I have a little break from teaching art because my student had an operation.  I'm meeting with a new student today who is joining the 1st phase of my program.  Teaching skating lessons is coming along, we drew the qualifications for this years regionals on the 1st of May but his is the first year in a decade at least that I don't have anyone skating official events.  We may have a new senior skater from Maine.  Gardening has taken my focus this past week or more and it looks like at least another week might get things in some kind of good shape.  Along with the usual reading of art books and magazines, etc., I've read a few fiction books (not art) and it feels like cheating.  I guess my brain needed a little change of pace.

I reached a point with computing and making new web pages where I was NEAR finished and then got sidetracked, so nothing to report there.  Here is a new site where you can play with photos and make some very interesting things:  http://ipicey.com/
Make a photo collage, calendar, and other things.

It feels good to be strong and physically active which is partly to blame on the weather and I'm walking, gardening, and just enjoying being outside again.
