One for NAA

I finished framing the 30x40" acrylic painting "We Run" and will deliver it today around noon.  I talked about bringing a second painting, a smaller one, but I don't have anything that's not OIL!  This show is not for oil paintings.
"We Run" 30x40" acrylic on canvas, framed with thin dark gray wood strips. $900

This painting is also on DPW, Daily Paintworks, but I'd rather sell it at Newburyport so it wouldn't need to be shipped.
Carol Marine (I'm a fan) and her husband, David, created a great site--DPW, similar to Ebay but for artists.  There is another site for art called Etsy which I joined a year ago and never posted to it--something that I do want to do soon.

Carol wrote a great book recently and has written a short article for
which is nice and succinct, send it on to anyone you know who may be considering painting.

Just an ordinary day.

It feels strange not to be under the gun, with a finish line approaching.

I'm getting ready to submit a painting or two to the next juried show
at Newburyport Art Association on Sunday.

My lovely compound miter chop saw.

Gluing up the frame.
I made a frame for a 30x40" acrylic painting that I want to submit.  They are renovating the galleries at NAA and they may not want to choose large paintings because of consideration of the space available.  So I think I'll see what else I can submit that is smaller.

I like to frame the large paintings with wood strips.  I miter the corners, easy the edges, glue and nail it up and paint it, in this case a dark gray.  I'll finish the fine points today, repaint it, attach wire, etc.
I called it "We Run" when I finished it.  It is of a Boston street scene last March and there is a poster on the right edge that says "We Run Together" about the Boston Marathon.
A cursory view of the painting doesn't match up with the name very well.

I have a small painting I like and just remembered that I bought some gorgeous new style frames a couple of months ago and never even opened the box.  That's how busy I've been.  Maybe I can find something to put in that frame, don't even remember what size I ordered.
They are the new Taos frames from Randy Higbee Frame in California. I had to order five of them to get the price discount, and at the time, I definitely wanted one, so there you go, that's how it goes.

Progression Pics of WeRun

Progression photos of We Run, 30x40 acrylic
Recently I worked on the Portrait "Fran" for the Newburyport Portrait Show in September, it has a ways to go yet.  Then I've started another 30x40" acrylic that I like because of the geometric patterning of the rows of plantings in a garden at Steven Coolidge Place in No. Andover.  Today I should be painting at Cox Reservation with David Curtis' group and I'll head over there about 1 p.m. and then attend a reception at The Nook in Rockport at 5.  Spring arrived very late here in New England and I still haven't done my yard work.  I know that if I don't get out there soon, the weeds will get out of control.  The People Painting People Project for Merrimac MA for the month of August is still gaining ground, and tomorrow morning I take down my solo show at the Rhythm Cafe.  I had a very good show there with lots of nice comments and many sales.  I'm going to buy Rosemary Brushes with the proceeds and supplies for the Lori Putnum workshop in June.
